I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review.

This is the story of a seventeen year old girl named Scarlett who recently moved to a new town. She is an orphan who was raised by her dad’s best friend until she decided to become emancipated. Even though she is emancipated, he lives with her and acts as a bodyguard. Her first day of school, she meets Blake and immediately decides that he is a player. She wants nothing to do with him. During a shared class, he asks her what pack she belongs to and she thinks that he has lost his mind. She has no idea what he is talking about and he soon realizes this. During school, she comes to the realization that the school seems to be divided into two different groups and both of them seem to look at her like she is about to attack them. As she is walking to her car at the end of the day, she sees Cade. Cade is Blake’s best friend and seems to be the leader of one of the two groups, with Blake being the leader of the other. She lumps him in the same “player” category that she put Blake in. Unfortunately though, she is attracted to Cade.
Then the big secret is revealed. Scarlett is a werewolf, but not just a werewolf. Shortly afterwards, she discovers that she is Cade’s mate.
I did have some issues with this book. They start out going to school and while I understand missing days because of what is going on, they never return. Also, I cannot figure out why she felt the need to be emancipated from Gary, but he lives with her, trains her and takes care of her. Also, the wolfsbane thing. Cade uses it to keep a wolf from touching the bars of the cell (it burns the skin), but Victor injects more than one person with it and all it does is prevent others from figuring out they are wolves. That same potion, when injected in either Scarlett or Victor prevents them from shifting in order to protect themselves.
The characters are good, great to see a strong female character from beginning to end. It was truly a nice read, even with the issues I had. Definitely 4 stars.

Great story, loved every chapter

This was such a great story! I really loved the way she writes Scarlet's personality. I got hooked the first couple sentences. You heard me, first sentences. I love the romance. I first heard about Alpha on wattpad, but missed the chance to read it, so I had to have the paper copy. It's been awhile since I have read an actual book instead of on my phone. It was worth it. I can tell you, that you will enjoy this.

Past comes calling!

Loved this book! Scarlett is strong, independent and sassy. She will soon learn some secrets that will change everything. What happens when the past is revealed and the danger she has been waiting for finds her. What does the two most popular boys in her new school have to do with it all? Cade and Blake know they need to protect Scarlett but will she believe what they have to tell her? Will one of them be her future? Loved all the characters and the banter between them all. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Nothing new

I read the electronic version of this book in the library. In my opinion, it is nicely presented text, but I found no new information there. It you are familiar with the Guide to Naturalization by The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (available for free from WWW.USCIS.GOV in PDF format), you don't need this book. Questions and answers for Civic test are exactly the same, but in different order. Yes, examples in the book are different from those in the website, but still very obvious and straightforward.

i will give this book five stars if only because of it's accuracy in detailing all information. HOWEVER, nobody should spend any more money than they already have (God knows how much money has been paid to get this far!) since ANY and ALL information written on this book can be found at the immigration website, [...]

Practical and helpful advice for preparing the N-400 form and dealing with the process

We're preparing to apply for citizenship and I'd read this book after having filled out the forms. I fully expected to have to prepare a draft version of our application, review and revise it as needed. I worried that I would spend too much time reviewing and revising -- weeks or months -- out of fear of making a mistake.

I found Ilona Bray's straightforward description of the process and pitfalls helpful particularly because she offers a practitioner's practical advice. I've read other reviewers mention that you can get the same advice elsewhere, but since my own sources were limited to the instructions on how to fill out the N-400 form and Ilona Bray's book, I was relieved to find the information organized and readily available in an easy to find format.

As we opted not to hire an attorney to review our application, I wanted more than the government website and instructions to help guide me through the application and waiting process.

If you have possible issues with your application, you'll need to discuss the specifics with an attorney. But if you meet all the requirements and just want to make sure that your application is filed completely and that the process goes smoothly, Becoming a U.S. Citizen is worth reading, keeping on hand, and referring to throughout the process. I found several tips and suggestions that have helped me in preparing my N-400 application. The tips are the sort that an immigration law practitioner might give you but fortunately without spending several thousands on an immigration lawyer.

This book is a MUST have for anyone going through a custody case.
I read it in about 3 hours and was amazed at the step by step information it gave.
I have it with me when I visit my attorney (who also loved the book)and when I am
in court. It is a great stepping stone to prepare you for whats happening and what
happens next. GREAT BOOK!

When you go to a divorce lawyer, you pay $350 an hour for practically nothing. This book actually gives you some concrete guidelines. It ain't much, but it is much, much more than that $350/hour guy. I one-upped my lawyer after a 30-minute read.

Hell to Pay is yet another book on Hillary Rodham Clinton, this time from a conservative lawyer who served as the Republican chief counsel for the congressional committee investigating the Clintons' involvement in "Travelgate" and "Filegate." Barbara Olson traces the now familiar biographies of the president and first lady, contending that Mrs. Clinton is someone with dangerously liberal, even radical, political beliefs who "now seeks to foment revolutionary changes from the uniform of a pink suit." (Olson plays the theme heavily: each chapter of Hell to Pay begins with quotes from Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals, which influenced the young Hillary Rodham.)

There are some interesting new tidbits scattered throughout the book, like the fact that after law school Hillary Rodham tried to become a Marine Corps officer but was turned down; or that she told her high school paper her ambition after high school was "to marry a senator and settle down in Georgetown." Olson, attempting to dissect the mystery of the Clinton partnership, writes, "Most self-respecting women would have left" after Clinton's repeated infidelities. "Hillary chose to stay. She behaves as both a desperate lover, and like a frantic campaign manager protecting a flawed candidate.... Hillary, it seems, long ago accepted Bill Clinton as someone who could advance her goals, as a necessary complement to her intellectual cold-blooded pursuit of power." As the Clinton presidency draws to a close, that pursuit has taken her beyond the White House toward a bid for her own U.S. Senate seat. Olson predicts the Senate won't be enough, just the next step toward becoming the first woman president: "Hillary Clinton seeks nothing less than an office that will give her a platform from which to exercise real power and real world leadership." While Olson admits that "Bill Clinton has always excited the greatest passion not among his supporters, but among his detractors," the same could certainly be said of his wife--whose supporters will probably consider Hell to Pay a rehash of a too-familiar story, but whose detractors will no doubt savor every page. --Linda Killian

Who can doubt this?

...What I found fascinating about this book was its verifiability. In every case where Olson reveals some particularly damning bit of information, she is impecable about tieing it to easily corroborated additional public documentation. What is compelling about this book is not so much that it tends to confirm the worst suspicions of many who feel that the Clintons have been a disaster for the American body politic, but that it illuminates the reasons why this has taken place. Olson, by the by, never stoops to cheap shots and is noticably quiet when it comes to Chelsea and Hillary's relationship with her. This book, taken in isolation, would be considered a most distasteful expose of an American personality. Unfortunately, we are all part of the continuing story of Hillary Clinton. This book is more of an explanation for why a member of the extended family is locked in the attic. A good book....whether you like Hillary or not!

Ms. Olson Exposes A Phony

This book is unabashedly anti-Clinton. And why not? The media won't, so somebody has to reveal the unseemly motives and behaviors that incubate the scandals that regularly bubble up from the depths of this White House. That's where *Hell to Pay* comes in. It spendidly unveils facts and events that the media overlook.
There are other books about the Clintons. One (Brock's) is solid and factual, but a little ponderous to read. Others (Stephanopolis' and Isakoff's) are more compelling, but they divulge little. Not so with this book, in which I had fun learning interesting, documented facts, and gaining insights that bring puzzle pieces together.
Ms. Olson shows how Mrs. Clinton - not James Carville - conceived the notion of the political campaign as war. All is fair, including hiring private investigators to dig up dirt, and barraging the opponent publicly with assertions that will hurt, but which need not be true.
Witness accounts disclose the Clintons' callous, sometimes savage, treatment of subordinates. There are illustrations of paranoia in the White House. In fact, Olson added to my knowledge of virtually every Clinton scandal. I especially enjoyed learning who and what Harold Ickes is.
Olson shows how several contemporary Clinton practices were learned from past experience. An example is "triangulation." As governor of Arkansas, Clinton was confronted with a federal court decision that left him no choice but to overhaul the state's school system. But doing so would require a tax hike, which would be tough to sell. Clinton put his wife in charge. After an extensive "listening tour," she proposed mandatory teacher testing and removing incompetent teachers as part of the tax hike bill. The voters liked the idea and gave Clinton his tax increase, all of which would go to schools. The teachers were outraged by the testing, but as time passed they saw that their jobs were safe, and that they could safely resume supporting Bill Clinton, for Mrs. Clinton had made sure very few incompetent teachers were fired, and the teachers saw new tax revenue flowing to their schools. Clinton triangulation produced form, but not substance. Arkansas school system's national ranking declined with Hillary in charge.
There's lots more; just get the book. Overall, Ms. Olson illustrates that Mrs. Clinton is not the nice lady the media strives to portray. Rather, Ms. Olson asserts, Ms. Clinton is more Nixonian than Nixon, except that Ms. Clinton lacks Nixon's statesmanship and conscience.

Worthwhile

While I'm no fan of Hillary Clinton, I wanted to read a biography that was neither a vitriolic diatribe, nor the usual puff piece. Hell to Pay filled the bill exactly. Very revealing. Recommend it highly
