Very nice book, but not enough stories

The book contains some wonderful examples of Russian short stories. The overall quality of the construction of the book is very high. But I would personally like to have more than twenty stories in a single volume. If the reader is new to Russian literature and wants an introduction to it, this book would be a nice place to start. But for someone like me, who would potentially use the book as a college course text, it is not enough to meet my needs.

Maxim Gorky and world literature

Maxim Gorky has always been one of my favorite writers and he doesn't seem particularly Slavic or Russian in his short stories. In fact, if one changed the names of the characters, they could occur at any part of the globe. With Maxim Gorky, one gets a fresh, new insight into the lower dens of the poor and disenfranchised. That's what makes him so stupendously exhilarating.

In this collected short stories, Maxim Gorky is at his finest. Wonderful reading to anyone who loves world literature.

The very first exercises are designed to help you become more aware of your ribcage and your neck and how to shape them so that they form a stable foundation. This forms a basis for moving the shoulders and stretching them.

When stretching and improving awareness, one of the most important considerations is Tensegrity which is a contraction of the terms Tension and Integrity.

Tension is what allows us to feel our body in general. While it is relatively easy to learn to feel muscular activity and the tension generated within the belly of a muscle when it is active, connective tissue tension is something we can learn to feel when muscles are relaxed.

If we learn to feel this tension, and relaxed stretching is one way to learn to feel it, then we can not only improve body awareness, but also our ability to control our body and respond quickly, even instantaneously.

One of the keys to learning to feel this tension is to move slowly and smoothly. But another key is to focus on isolated elements.

After awareness (and control) is developed in isolation it can then be used in integrated "whole body" movements or postures.

Many of the stretches are based on stretches that I first learned from Andrey Lappa, one of my most important yoga teachers. But I've also developed exercises based on my own experiences from studying Tai Ji and Kung fu and from teaching (and doing) yoga for the last 15 years.

Wouldn't it be fun to help a tooth fairy out? You know, help pick up teeth and give them a special coin. Of couse it is a lot of kids dream at one point or another. In this story Willy Webber gets the chance to help out the Toot Fairy. She looses her address list while picking up Willy's tooth. Accidentally, she wakes him up, and ends up taking him on a trip he will never forget.
This is a very great story for kids who have just lost their first tooth. It gives a humorous twist to the job of the Tooth Fairy. Along with a great storyline, the illistrations in this book are great. I think that every kid should have the chance to read this book at one point or another.

Cute book for children who are about to lose their teeth!

I have been looking for this book for a couple of years. I remember this book from my childhood and I knew when I had my daughter I wanted to get it for her. This book was in brand new condition and still glows in the dark and it sparkles just like I remembered mine did. My daughter loves this book as much as I did. It also smells like the one I had when I was little, I know thats a little strange but because of the glitter on it, it had a certain smell. It really brought me back to my childhood and I couldn't be happier! Great Purchase!

The States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) have established the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in order to achieve the object and purpose of the Convention. It aims to ensure the implementation of the CWC’s provisions, including those for international verification of compliance with it, and to provide a forum for consultation and cooperation among States Parties. The aim of this book is to give a comprehensive view of how to internationally verify compliance with the CWC, in principle, using analytical chemistry and related strategies and methods.

There are currently eighteen analytical laboratories that have established capability, and obtained recognized competence in, the analysis of samples for CWC-related chemicals; these laboratories are the OPCW designated laboratories. The majority of the chapters in this book discuss the analytical methods used in these off-site laboratories. The methods discussed are for the identification of target chemicals from environmental and human origin samples. The procedures and strategies for on-site sampling and analysis are also discussed. 

A variety of topics are covered, including:

• the requirements of the CWC for verification, sampling, mobile laboratories and their equipment and software;
• sample preparation from environmental samples;
• official inter-laboratory proficiency tests arranged by the OPCW;
• the OPCW Central Analytical Database (OCAD);
• monitoring of hazardous chemicals;
• analysis strategies and quality assurance;
• analytical methods including gas and liquid chromatography hyphenated with mass spectrometry or other detectors, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and capillary electrophoresis, and the detection of exposure to toxic scheduled chemicals.

This book is aimed at researchers from the fields of environmental and analytical chemistry, and researchers in civil and military laboratories. The National Authorities of the States Parties to the CWC will find the book useful as it covers developments in the area of CWC chemicals analysis. The approaches are practical and the chapters are particularly useful for those people responsible for developing their laboratory analysis methods and work instructions.
